2015 is Going to be an Exciting Year for Tech

2015 is going to be an exciting year for (consumer) tech.

  • The advent of a proper smartwatch (and then seeing Google/the Android response to it).
  • The release of better low-cost Intel-based hardware (with the NUC/NUC-like hardware, on the one hand, and tablets, on the other).
  • Properly graphically-focused mobile computing. Both performance and portability emphasised.
  • Intel Skylake, Thunderbolt 3, USB 3.1.

2015's definitely going to be different. It won't be the introduction of new category-defining products. It will be more of a technological innovation: stepping up what has already been made, and building upon that.

Incremental innovation.

Really looking forward to seeing what will be released later on this year.

In unrelated news, finally got around to upgrading this Ghost blog to the new version. Did a manual upgrade via the command line (still waiting for the easy 1-click auto-upgrade that's referenced in their Trello).

Just missing a proper domain now for this blog. On the other hand, I don't really expect to have an audience at the moment (nor should I. It's not marketed, the topics are only what I'm interested in (rather than appealing to a section of the public/a specific audience, by focusing on a niche for the blog).), so perhaps the investment of a domain (and more importantly, the time spent thinking of a good domain name) is unwarranted.
