2015

This thought is in relation to an upcoming article (currently working on it at the moment. Started progress a long time ago but haven't managed to complete it yet, so technically this thought/post is, in chronological terms, after that post)...

Should I get the retina MacBook Pro 15" now, or should I wait?

On the one hand, I really need to get a laptop with a larger screen, as my current 11" MBA is very good at inducing eye strain (plus, the screen size is too small for viewing documents).

But on the other hand, I really want to wait and see what Apple is going to release in 2015. The oft hinted retina MacBook Air 12", with a new design. The upcoming Skylake-based MacBook Pro 15", which will introduce upgrades that compensate for the disappointing 2014 refresh1.

Really can't decide at the moment.

1. Default upgrade of the base 15" rMBP laptop up to 16 GB, with 16 GB being the max limit of top-of-the-end laptop. No change in graphics card, no major update of the CPU. No major change in storage. Disappointing, but Apple was probably hoping for Broadwell to have been released by then (and then, a major update in the form of Skylake).
